By using anderson plugs with color coding, you also avoid accidentally connecting devices to the wrong battery. This is useful, for example, when you have multiple batteries, chargers and devices with different voltages. A blue anderson sb50 fits only a blue anderson sb50. Anderson SB50 connectors do not know male or female. So if you want to connect a device to a 12V battery you need two blue plugs. Also, anderson plugs are great for making extension cables.
